The average person really plans on having the most fun-filled night for New Years Eve. Sometimes I like to believe that things take shape from the beginning. I want my 2017 to be filled with new relationships, new love, and bigger business ventures. For me, I need lots of personal time to get my plan together. Before the craziness, I have to relax to mentally be in the right space. So, I brought in 2017 very smoothly. I didn't party or even get with friends. I spent my night relaxing and simply had a drink. I listened to a mix of Frank Ocean (with a little Beyonce) and ended my night with laughter and watched bloopers from some of my favorite comedy movies. Boring, right?
No worries! I made up for it by putting on my flyest leather coat over my all black ensemble, then headed out the door to see what the streets of New York had to offer me. They always seem to have something interesting going on.
My on-the-go chic look for the day is a classic example of "High-Low" fashion (mixing expensive fashion with low-cost pieces). As long as you have that one statement piece, everything else can be fairly simple.
As we all know, New York is getting colder and colder, so this fur piece came just in time. This Versailles jacket is worn a bit differently (you have to step into it). There are straps that go on like chaps under the coat. I suppose it's one of those design features that helps the shape sit will on the hips. It also features glitzy trimming to accentuate the extreme V-cut and slim waist contouring. There are also padded details on the shoulders and sides of the upper arms.
This look was initially all black (even the jacket), but this coat brought in a whole new level of fierceness that just HAD to be worn on the street for the first day of the year. My pants are by Cotton On, which are very fitted and have that shark skin coating. You can't see my top, but I wore a black off-the-shoulder leotard by BooHoo.
Once again, I originally opted for black sneakers, but took a second look in my closet and these grey, suede thigh high boots by Ego were peeking out at me, so grey it was! Plus, I think it added a bit of a different flare to my look.
I added this mini studded backpack by BeBe. For one, I hate carrying things, so backpacks are my best friends that way I always have both hands free, plus it helps prevent me from sitting my bag down and leaving it behind (which I do a lot). It's small, yet big enough to fit my necessities of the day in it (full size wallet, camera, chargers, lipsticks, etc.).
