An Italian village in summer, past and contemporary pursuits are the backdrop of the Dolce&Gabbana Summer 2016 campaign. The Dolce&Gabbana Summer 2016 advertising campaign tells a simple story: fruit stalls, small shops, spaghetti, coffee, family, sunshine, summer. In one word, Italy. The inspiration of the fashion show and the advertising is life in Italy, the fanciful, positive life, made of genuinity: food, history, love. It is in this genuinity where we see locals and tourists come together, those who know the Italian life and those who want to embrace it feast together, chat, have fun and take selfies as tokens of their vacation and the new people they meet. Tourists take in the sights and smells of Italy, but also the culture and the traditions which imbue the country’s heritage with a unique quality: Italian spirit.

And how to forget the small shops, traditional botteghe, where in the 1950s artisans would fashion outfits with love and dedication marrying simple materials and ancient handicrafts to create unforgettable and one of a kind outfits that foreign ladies touring Italy would devour thanks to their uniquely Italian style. And the fashion: the joyful atmosphere portrayed by the models and the extras is highlighted by the clothes and accessories with iconic carretto siciliano prints, souvenir or monument embroidered sheer looks, razor sharp tailoring, Sicilian chinoiserie summer casuals, pyjamas, kaftans and sun dresses. This make believe Italian village conceived by Domenico Dolce (who shot the campaign) and Stefano Gabbana (the creative director), populated by models and extras, and furnished with exquisite fashion is a microcosm of the best of Italy, #italiaislove.
