If you're looking for something different to spunk up your place, stripes will certainly do the trick. You can add just the right amount of POP to any room with striped accent walls. Here's a super easy way to get it done!

1. PREP & PRIME
Choose which direction you want your stripes to face (horizontal, vertical, diagonal) then paint the base layer with a solid tone (this will be one of your stripe colors). Allow the paint to dry for at least 48 hours before adding the stripes.
2. LAYOUT YOUR STRIPES

How thick do you want your stripes? Do you want thick and thin stripes? Just a few stripes? This is easiest to do with painting tape to map out how many or how thick you want your stripes to be. To keep up with which stripe is which, you can write or tape an "X" on every other stripe so you don't get them confused.
3. BURNISH THE WALL
This is to ensure that your second layer of paint won't bleed under the tape, causing your stripes to be messy or uneven. Using a credit card or something flat to press down the edges of your tape. There shouldn't be any lifted edges, bubbles, etc.
4. PAINT YOUR STRIPES
Carefully paint over the remaining stripes and the edges of the tape (this will keep your lines sharp) with a semigloss paint, making sure to cover the entire area of each stripe (anything missed will show up as a contrast in sheens). One coat should do the trick.

5. REMOVE THE TAPE
When removing the tape, be sure to pull in the direction away from the fresh paint.
COLOR TIPS
Blue is a great color for a bedroom: it's serene and calming.
Red is a good color for stripes in a dining room: it stimulates the appetite.
For a foyer, shades of yellow and orange are welcoming colors.
Shades of yellow and cream are soft and luxurious.
Painting stripes with contrasting colors will create drama.
GO CHIC! Black & White stripes will forever be in style!
