It's never too late to bring your home to life. There's something about warm weather that makes you want to have something fresh. We crave different cocktails, more mimosas, and anything brightly-colored to remind us that summer is here. This could be simply painting your nails with a bright pink or even adding highlights to your hair.
But when it comes to our home, are we staying up to date with our seasonal looks? Over time we get used to what's there and forget to update our walls, tablecloths, dining sets, and comfy bed sets. Sometimes we want change, but in doses. Transitional decorating makes this effort seamless and quick to do. It can be as simple as changing your throw pillows with a brighter or darker tone, polishing up the trim in your home with fresh paint, or adding new curtains.
Here are 7 Summer Decorating Ideas that you can try out to brighten up your summer home.
ADD POPS OF COLOR

Adding contrasting colors to your rooms is the simplest way for immediate change in your home. Pictured here is a pop of lime green to a black and white room. For that professionally decorated look, fold your cover differently, get a rug to match and offset it in the room. Oh! Don't forget the flowers!

RECOVER YOUR HEADBOARD
Not in love with your headboard? Recover it or repaint it! This is an amazing example of how to turn your bedroom into your personal sanctuary. All of the tones compliment each other perfectly. The teal offsets the black & white bedset. The grey walls add sophistication, while the ceiling gives bursts of personality.
ADD WALL REMOVABLE WALL DECALS

The best part about using decals instead of painting patterns onto your wall is that they're much easier to take off whenever you've changed your mind or are just ready for a new design. These pictured can turn any room from drab to FAB! For a stronger contrast, give your walls a fresh coat of paint. These palm trees would also look great with a yellow-orange sunset tone for the background.

HANG FLOWY CURTAINS

It isn't paradise if you don't have big, flowing curtains! You can opt for throwing curtains on wide doorways, windows, or adding a canopy to your bed. There's something so quaint and eloquent about having these over-sized beauties flush out your bed, bath, and beyond.

PAINT DARK WOOD WHITE
A quick fix to a dark room is paint. This solution is always easy and inexpensive rather than going out to buy a new set of furniture every time you want some change.
TIP: For an aged look, paint a light layer over your wood. The more layers, the whiter it will be. For this translucent look, Try out one layer or thin your paint.
From the bedroom to the kitchen, white will always work. Go for an opaque, uber clean look with stark white cabinets. Offset the white with some interesting china. Maybe purple? Maybe orange? Or how about a romantic red? Go crazy!

SET UP A COUNTER
Does your porch land below an opening window? Here's a great idea, keep it fresh and authentic with an outdoor counter-top connected to your kitchen. You can install it yourself with a DIY tutorial or you can hire someone. This is a great addition to any home and a sure way to fire up your summer mood. Outdoor dining can be also be very romantic. Add a few candles, maybe even hang some low-lit lights or vines to drape along the wall or around the windowsill.

LAYER UP THE DECORATIVE PILLOWS
Indoors, outdoors, wherever! Making a cozy nook outside for summer reading sessions, cookouts, tanning, etc. looks and feels all the better when you have a pile of pillows to relax on. Take a piece of furniture outdoors and make a second hangout area. Go for a unique look with mismatched pillows. You can play with contrasting tones, shimmers, bright colors, sequins, and embroidery.
